Newport Homebuilders Newport Homebuilders pioneers green building program for energy-conscious buyers in North Texas
Newport Homebuilders has announced a major green building initiative program - "LiveGreen, Built Green to Save Green" - offering new home buyers an environmentally-friendly home that improves air quality and provides a substantial savings on energy, water and utility bills.

"We spent months researching the latest energy-saving products and construction methods to create this comprehensive LiveGreen building program," said Kent LeSueur, president of Newport Homebuilders.

"LiveGreen focuses on four major areas including energy efficiency, water conservation, air quality and green living. A two-story home in our program will realize a minimum savings of 25 percent on energy, a 25 percent water savings and a 50 percent improvement in indoor air quality," LeSueur added. "We feel our homeowners will also realize added value when they sell their home."

Every Newport home will be individually inspected by an independent, third- party Home Energy Rater to certify that the homes meet the EPA's nationally recognized EnergyStar Program. Each home also meets and exceeds the GreenBuilt North Texas program developed by the Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas.

To launch their innovative LiveGreen program, Newport invested in a traveling earth-friendly, promotional vehicle, the Newport LiveGreen Machine. This highly visible car will visit schools, city and community events, grand openings and industry gatherings to educate the public on the importance of saving energy and living more conscientiously. Company officials will also distribute information on how to live "green" as well as energy-saving gadgets to remind people to live "green" and save some green. Newport Homebuilders is one of the first volume builders in the Dallas/Fort Worth market to introduce such a comprehensive program.

"We're convinced an aggressive approach to green building is absolutely imperative if we plan to preserve a healthy environment for our children and grandchildren," LeSueur added. "Very few people realize that more than 8,000 pounds of waste is typically thrown into a landfill during the construction of a 2,000-square-foot home," LeSueur noted. "Newport recycles all wood and brick waste - an enormously positive impact on the environment from just one house."

A few of the high-performance LiveGreen features include Tyvek House Wrap, Radiant Barrier Roof Decking which reduces ceiling heat gains from the attic by up to 42 percent, high performance Low-E vinyl windows, 14 SEER high efficiency cooling equipment, tightly sealed air duct distribution system, R-38 Attic Insulation, high performance appliances like the EnergyStar compliant dishwasher that uses up to 25 percent less energy than standard models, and dual-flush high efficiency toilets.

Outdoors, a high efficiency outdoor irrigation system saves over 30 percent on outdoor watering which accounts for up to 50 percent of residential water use. "These are just a few of the features found in every Newport home," says LeSueur. "Newport provides every homeowner with a third-party certificate at closing verifying the efficiencies."

Newport currently builds homes priced from the $300s to $700s in Prosper, Lucas, Keller and Lantana. Luxury homes in the Park Cities start at $900,000. LeSueur encourages schools and civic organizations to call 972-732-8800 or visit www.newportlivegreen.com to request a live appearance by the Newport homebuilders LiveGreen Machine or find out more about Newport communities, home designs and energy and water savings.
